In November 2014 HSE completed a work at height blitz, focussed on refurbishment projects. They visited 1750 sites, found unacceptable practice on 700, and issued notices on 350. Throughout 42% of the issues related ot working at height unsafely.
Phil White, Chief Inspector of Construction said “a significant part of the industry is seriously failing its workers …”
The idiots on ladders campaign has highlighted the issue, but perhaps this is not such a constructive contest.
